Part-Time Patent Graphic Coordinator / Illustrator

New York, New Jersey

We are looking for a person to work a day or so a week during business hours, semi-regular hours and on-call. This could easily become a full time position for the right candidate.

You would act as a liaison between our clients and our 55-person patent illustration team.

You would be called on to provide creative solutions to questions like:

• How can I show this invention visually?

• How many figures are needed?

• In what order?

Production Associates also check finished drawings for quality and accuracy before they are delivered to the client.

Our clients are engineers and patent attorneys. A certain comfort level with technology terms is needed. Candidates will be quizzed on their knowledge of technology and the use of terminology in a range of technical fields.

Production Associates manage the drafting process by pro-actively asking questions of clients up front to minimize the need for clarification later on. The information gathered can include:

• notes;

• sketches;

• photographs of prototypes;

• inventor files of all types;

• video;

• and any other type of instructive information.

The position would require some sketching ability. We will wish to see samples of hand-drawn illustrations (not computer renderings). For instance, a hand drawn sketch of a telepone (cell or desk) could be emailed to demonstrate a certain level of sketching ability. NOTE: Craigslist does not allow more than a total of 150 kb for attachments.

We are an established legal services company assisting the Intellectual property community.

Our clients are law firms and large corporations with large research budgets directed to new patents; deadlines are important.

This position requires people who feel comfortable taking charge of a project and doing whatever is needed to get the job done. This includes providing instructions for other team members.

This is not a sales positions, however you are a primary contact with clients; when you see an opportunity to increase our footprint in the market, you should grab it. A fearless can-do, client management attitude is needed.
